In April 2018, Microsoft released a Windows 10 update that was billed as “Bringing you new ways to make the most of your time with features that help you create and connect across devices.” With the update came Microsoft Windows Support complexities and challenges that were pertinent for small business owners. Here, we will examine a few of the most relevant. You can trust Tribus Computer with all your Microsoft Windows Support needs. Microsoft Windows Support – Helping You Navigate Windows 10
Here, then, are some of the features you can expect your business to benefit from with Windows 10, but also may lead to increased need for support.
1. Office 365
Office 365 is a cloud-based subscription service that brings together the best tools for the way people work today.
It combines best-in-class apps like Excel and Outlook with powerful cloud services like OneDrive and Microsoft Teams, allowing users to create and share anywhere and on any device.
Office 365 for Business provides the following:
- Flexible and familiar tools for collaboration across teams, devices, and platforms.
- The ability to access work on the go with features like multi-party HD video, content sharing, shared calendars, and team chat.
- Built-in control over your data security and compliance with privacy, transparency, and refined user controls.
There are different plans and pricing models available, and a Microsoft Windows Support provider will be able to help set up and troubleshoot once the decision has been made to incorporate these tools.
2. Focus assist
Are there times where your employees need to be free from distraction, whether it be from email or social media notifications? Focus Assist can help.
By going to Display Settings > Focus Assist and turning on the feature, those notifications can be silenced for a period of time in order to allow employees to focus on an important task at hand.
There is some wiggle room here, however, as you can customize which notifications can break that barrier and which ones not to, so you can completely ignore your boss for a period of time.
Still, increased productivity is in the cards with this handy feature.

3. Timeline
Along the lines of increased productivity, this latest update has introduced a feature called Timeline.
According to PC World, “Windows 10’s Timeline feature helps answer the question: what was I working on? This handy, optional feature can track what documents and Web pages you’ve been working on over the past weeks and months, organizing them into a collection of documents you can quickly open to pick up where you left off.”
It’s similar to a browser history, but instead of just tracking which websites you visit, Timeline tracks most of the applications you use and the documents that you opened and edited.
This feature can be accessed down in the taskbar, next to the Cortana search box:
Windows assumes that you want Timeline turned on. If you don’t, or you’d like to manage how Microsoft uses your information, visit the Settings menu at Settings > Privacy > Activity History.
4. Cortana
Speaking of Cortana, (located on the “type here to search” image above), this feature acts as a virtual personal assistant and keeps everyone organized.
For example, you can use Cortana to set reminders based on time and location; Ask her for a preview of your day and reschedule when you’re double-booked, or add items to your lists and cue photo reminders.
You can further talk to Cortana for almost anything you need – she’ll answer questions, give directions, play music, tell you the weather, and more.
Cortana takes care of the details so you can start your day and do more with less effort, thereby increasing worker efficiency.
Again, a Microsoft Windows Support provider such as Tribus Computer will be able to help set up and troubleshoot so that Cortana can help you remain as productive as possible.
